Spring, City Administrators reported proudly that the number of City employees
per capita has decreased 16%. The story the City did not tell was the increasing
numbers of temporary workers with low wages and no benefits that the City has
employed to keep up with the work. The City wants huge
take backs on health insurance—they want to hike premium sharing and increase
co-pays. Let’s make sure Mayor Drake
knows: it’s
time to stop temporary worker abuse and it’s time to put a benefits package on
the table that will keep employees working for the
City.
