Rally to Support Portland Public Schools Custodians and Nutrition Service Workers

Custodians have just
returned to their jobs after winning a lawsuit against PPS for
privatizing their work four years ago. Many of you will remember that
hard-fought battle. Now, the custodians are joining with 200 Nutrition
Service workers to bargain their next contract. Management has
proposed a 1% raise for Nutrition Service workers and a 30% pay cut to
custodians. This move by the district is obviously retaliatory and we
need to stand with the custodians and food service workers for safe and
healthy schools, fair wages and job security.
