AFSCME members at MESD are fighting for a new contract. Health care takeaways are the big issue.
Multnomah Education Service District provides services to special needs children and provides direct services to the school districts. Insurance is the big issue. 115 of the 350 members have enormous out of pocket expnses. Management is offering less than they originally did at this point. MESD received a 17% increase in the budget, but still is proposing this harsh contract. Many of the workers are single women raising children.
