Show Up and Be Counted!
Wednesday January 30, 2008 5:30 PM
Terry Shrunk Plaza, SW 3rd and Madison.
On December 28th, a federal court issued an order preventing Oregon from implementing our domestic partnership law until at least February 1. The court's decision was in response to a lawsuit brought by an out-of-state right wing interest group, trying to revive their failed attempt to overturn Oregon’s domestic partnership law by referendum. This unnecessary delay has put hundreds of caring, committed couples in harm's way. It's up to all of us to ensure that Oregonians understand what's at stake. Domestic partnerships affect families across Oregon, so Oregonians from across the state are planning to come. Groups will carpool in from Ashland, Grants Pass, Bend, and beyond. Bring a banner from your local organization. Gay or straight, this injustice affects every Oregonian who believes in equality. It’s time to show up and be counted. Organized by Basic Rights Oregon—a member of Jobs with Justice. Sign the pledge to attend now! www.basicfairness.com
