Providence Workers Testimony

Providence workers are currently seeking ground rules for a fair union election, but have faced serious opposition from management.

"In the past two months, we have experienced negative campaigning and misleading communications and letters.  This is working- it is intimidating to many of my coworkers.  I do not believe that the NLRB can protect us."

"Our ability to share information about the union is very restricted.  How are the employees going to get enough accurate information to make an informed choice if only the hospital has access to everyone and it is telling people only what they choose to say about unions?  If employees never hear from those who want the union and understand what a difference the union would make, they cannot make an informed choice."

"If all this is going on at the outset of trying to gather to talk about forming a union then I hate to imagine what it would be like if no ground rules were set prior to our vote.  We, all staff, need to feel that talking about the union is not a punishable offense and that as we move along in this process we are safe."
