Labor Conversation on Immigration
The purpose of this forum is to increase understanding within the
labor community about the important topic of immigration.
Because of the legislation moving in Congress and because of the
upsurge in the immigrants’ rights movement, the issue is very much in
the news. Unfortunately, the media gives a very shallow and often
inaccurate
picture of the issue. FoIt is time for us to get together and talk.
The forum will provide information on topics including:
* Immigrant labor in the U.S. economy
* Immigration, globalization and the border
* Current
immigration law and how it works
* The human face of immigration
* The impact of immigration on the labor movement
There will be lots of
time for thinking together about what stance on immigration is in the
interests of unions and working people.
