JwJ Forum - Issues in Immigration: Working Class Solutions
The
purpose of this forum is to increase communication within the labor
community about the very controversial topic of immigration.
Around
the country, labor organizations, community organizations, faith
organizations and politicians are weighing in on this issue. Unfortunately, the media primarily presents a shallow and often
inaccurate picture of the issue. Although immigration and the issues
surrounding it are critical for labor and for unions, many union
members only hear the sound bites. As people committed to workers'
rights and economic justice we also need to get the facts, assess our
values, and come up with solutions for all working people.
The forum
will give us a chance to get information about the following topics:
- Can people migrate to the U.S legally?
- How do corporate attacks
affect workers here and globally?
- How are immigrant workers
organizing?
Most important, there will be ample time for discussion
in which we will think together about what possibilities exist and
how we can move forward in the struggle for justice for all workers.
