Jobs with Justice shuts down two banks in one day
JwJ members rally at KeyBank on International Human Rights Day to protest worker abuses at Oak Harbor Freight.
We had over 150 people for our Key Bank/Bank of America rally. Both
banks closed early as we chanted, drummed and heard speeches from
striking Oak Harbor worker Jeff Tyrrell, JwJ communtiy Co-Chair Fr. Bob
Krueger, JwJ Organizer Eliana Machuca, and PSU Economics Professor Mary
King. A delegation tried to go into Key Bank--where JwJ has an account,
only to find the bank closed more than 40 minutes early! Guess they
knew we werecoming! The group was able to talk to folks at the Bank of
America briefly before there were escorted out of the bank, which also
closed early.
Overall, it was a great action--spirited, powerful, and well-attended.
