Republic Windows Workers Confirmed for May 16th Dinner

Please join us for our 18th Anniversary Jobs with Justice Dinner and Celebration! This event will be on Saturday May 16th at 6:00 pm at the Teamsters’ Hall—1850 NE 162nd, Portland. The theme this year is "Another World is Possible, Another Economy is Necessary".

In this year of crisis and opportunity, we want to come together to celebrate our victories and recommit to the important struggles ahead. Jobs with Justice has been working on economic justice for nearly two decades, but now that work is more important than ever. At our recent, jam-packed Town Hall on the Economic Crisis, we realized both the depth of the crisis and the opportunity to build the movement to reshape our economy into something that truly works for all working people.

Workers in Chicago took action in a bold way when the economic crisis left them out in the cold--they occupied their closed down factory, inspiring workers across the country. We are thrilled to announce that at least one of the leaders of that struggle will be here to tell the story. You don't want to miss it!

We have a great deal of work to do if we are going to turn things around. We see this as the time to:

  • pass historic labor law reform—the Employee Free Choice Act

  • help workers win important struggles at Oak Harbor Freight, in the public sector--where workers face devastating budget cuts, and elsewhere

  • build the movement for economic justice at the local, federal and global level

  • assist immigrant workers in their struggle for basic human rights despite the increasingly hostile environment

  • continue to oppose trade deals which devastate working people here and abroad

  • help build the movement for real health care reform

We need your continued support. Our growing base of pledgers requires more resources to keep folks informed and engaged. This event is a great way to build community and raise funds to keep our work going. I hope to see you there!

Individual Tickets are $50. Organizations are encouraged to buy tables and ads in the Program Book. Click here for the order form. A limited number of discounted and free tickets are available for striking, low-income, and unemployed workers.
