Honduran Workers Demand $2.2 Million from Nike at Portland Area Workers' Rights Board Hearing
Last night, just a few miles away from Nike’s global headquarters, two Honduran workers spoke out strongly about how Nike's destructive labor practices have hurt them, their families and their co-workers. Gina Cano and Lowlee Urquía testified in front of members of the Portland Area Workers' Rights Board and a crowd of more than 100 community members.

Eleven Arrested In Health Care Sit In
Eleven people, including one nurse, were arrested at the Regence BlueCross/BlueShield headquarters, October 15th in Portland, Oregon in a protest demanding changes to Regence’s insurance practices and political activitities, and in favor of single payer health care reform.
Republicans begin assault on working families
Under the guise of fiscal responsibility, the Republicans fired the first shot in their post election assault on working families according to the Oregonian today. Republicans say that they won't extend Unemployment Insurance without cuts to pay for them - which is something we can expect to hear from them from now until the 2012 election. Without UI extension by November 30, over 2 million workers will lose the very benefits necessary for survival.
Millions lose unemployment benefits while Republicans push tax cuts for rich
Today unemployed benefits expire for thousands of Oregonians and 2 million workers nationwide. You would think that this would drive Congress to action. Instead Republicans and some Democrats are more concerned with giving tax breaks to the rich and cutting the social safety net to appease Wall Street.
